Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis Treatment Centers for Teens and Families

Center for Families, a valued member of the Newport Healthcare family of programs, provides guidance, awareness, and education for families in local communities around mental health and substance use struggles. We lead teens and families to sustainable healing through a continuum of care that includes our Therapeutic Day Program/PHP, Intensive Outpatient Program, and Outpatient services.

Each of our treatment programs, located in Malvern and West Chester, PA, and in Minneapolis, MN, encompasses evidence-based and solutions-focused components. Through support groups, clinical therapy, and psychoeducation, we involve the entire family in the healing journey—creating connection, cultivating compassion, igniting hope, and generating lasting change.

For Parents

Parent engagement in treatment is the single highest positive outcome indicator. As a teen goes through one of CFF’s programs, parent involvement strengthens the family dynamic and creates mutual empathy—restoring trust and communication. When a teen completes the program, the family takes away a roadmap for continued positive movement, along with the tools that have yielded industry-leading treatment outcomes.

For Teens

At Center for Families, we provide teens with the guidance, support, and education they need to have a meaningful and joyful life. Attendance in our various groups, led by licensed clinicians, helps teens build strong relationships, learn and practice healthy coping skills, grow their personal self-worth, and reestablish trust and connection with themselves and their loved ones.

Recovery from mental health struggles and/or substance abuse is not easy, and no one should do it alone. Our clinical groups help teens identify and understand their underlying issues, and learn how to cope with stressful emotions as they arise, instead of turning toward destructive behaviors. This is where true healing begins.

For Parents & Teens

At our Center for Families locations, parents and teens participate in clinical modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, tailored to the challenges presented by mental health and co-occurring disorders. In addition, our philosophy of care recognizes that in order to successfully heal and maintain recovery, parents and teens need a shared set of tools for effective communication, trusting connection, and compassionate listening.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Group

Guided by expert facilitators, both parents and teens utilize this modality to address emotional regulation and self-harming issues.

  • Clinician-facilitated groups

  • Emotional-regulation tools

What distinguishes Center for Families from other teen dual diagnosis treatment centers near me?

We do more than simply manage symptoms—we get to the bottom of what teens and families are experiencing and address those underlying issues. Our comprehensive treatment takes into account all aspects of a teen’s well-being. For example, our on-staff nutritionist conducts “Lunch and Learn” sessions focused on the impact of our daily food choices on mood, energy levels, and overall wellness. Tools and practices that support teens are seamlessly incorporated into the daily schedule in ways that allow them to learn by doing and experiencing, not just talking and thinking. Moreover, our Partial Hospitalization Program encompasses a Therapeutic Day School, to ensure that teens in treatment with us continue to make progress academically.

After spending time in family therapy at Center for Families, I was finally able to talk to my daughter again.
